What’s God’s number in your life?

We all have numbers for everything: cell phone numbers, home phone numbers, jersey numbers on our teams, house numbers, social security numbers, track number for our favorite song on a cd, and the list goes on forever.

God is all about numbers, too. Did you know that? If He was not concerned about numbers, He probably wouldn’t have sent His Only Son Jesus to the cross for US! Think about it. God sent Jesus to die on the cross for payment for our sins so we would not have to be eternally separated from Him. He wants as MANY as will accept Him to come and spend eternity in heaven with Him. Not just a couple, but everyone.

I truly believe that Jesus would have still gone to the cross if only a few, or only one for that matter, had been on the earth at the time. He loves us that much.

Do you know for sure that when you die that you will spend eternity in heaven with God? Is God your NUMBER 1? Does He have your number?

At Vacation Bible School this summer, 119 kids made decisions for Jesus Christ. That’s a number that puts a smile on God’s face.

We are also called to put our faith into action after we choose to follow Christ. The number of our days is only known by God, so we must make the best use of the days we have. CARPE DIEM is Latin for “Seize the Day!” Make the most of every day that you have in order to make a difference. Make a difference for Christ.

Our 5th and 6th graders participated in the first ever VBX this year during VBS. They were challenged to put their faith into action by serving others in our community. 84 5th and 6th graders worked throughout the week at the Western Carolina Rescue Mission, Westwood Baptist Church, Glen C. Marlow Elementary School, Avery’s Creek Elementary School, and Biltmore Baptist Church. They made a difference and touched other’s lives for Christ.

Want another COOL number? Our Preschoolers and Preteens stuffed 2020 prayer bears during VBS/VBX. These bears will be distributed to Emergency rooms, ICU’s, and PICU’s across Western North Carolina. The Flashlight Ministry, started by IB Brown, strives to share the love of Jesus Christ with children who are in the hospital or who have family members in the hospital. In addition, 1000 of these bears will go to Guatemala in July to share the love of Jesus with the children there. WOW! The efforts of our kids during the week of VBS will touch kids in our own back yard, as well as kids in Central America!

You may still say we shouldn’t be all about the numbers, but what if God weren’t about the numbers and He was content with the number He already had? Where would that leave the lost and dying world that we live in? Why would we need to share the love of Christ with others? Even Jesus said, “Let the children come unto me.” It’s a good thing He didn’t say, “Sorry, I have all I need. Keep them away.” By the way, isn’t there even a book in the Bible titled “NUMBERS”? I thought so.

My challenge to you is this: KEEP JESUS AS YOUR NUMBER ONE! and TELL AS MANY OTHERS AS YOU CAN ABOUT JESUS! Jesus is all about the numbers, and we should be, too.
